Overview

Introduction

Capital of Equatoria Province and terminus for Nile steamers, Juba (pop. 167,000) is one of the few true cities in southern Sudan and has its own university. Although the government has control of the city, this area has been the scene of heavy fighting in the past. Flying into Juba is not advised. 745 mi/1,200 km south of Khartoum.
