Overview

Introduction

At an altitude of 8,900 ft/2,700 m, this Kashmiri resort area in Gulmarg, India, 400 mi/645 km northeast of Delhi, has four ski lifts and a golf course. It also is a base for treks; if time doesn't permit a long hike, there's an easy half-day walk that circles the city and affords excellent views. In the winter, Gulmarg can be considerably colder than nearby Srinagar.
