Grevenmacher

Grevenmacher

Overview

Introduction

Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, lies on the banks of the Moselle River in the heart of the vineyard region, 19 mi/ 31 km northeast of Luxembourg City. Many of the local vineyards offer wine tastings. The annual wine market takes place on the Friday following Easter, and a wine festival and procession are held the second week in September.

Grevenmacher's other attractions include the ruins of a 13th-century belfry and fortifications, an exotic butterfly garden, and museums devoted to printing and playing cards housed in the cultural center, Kulturhuef. There are also some nice walking trails—it's a great place to relax for a day or two, or to take a Moselle boat trip onboard the MS Princesse Marie-Astrid.
