Salmonier

Salmonier

Overview

Introduction

North of Salmonier, Newfoundland and Labrador, on Highway 90 is Salmonier Nature Park, which contains natural-habitat enclosures that are home to disabled wildlife.

Among the animals in this preserve 35 mi/55 km southwest of St. John's are rough-legged hawks, snowy owls, bald eagles, peregrine falcons, moose, lynx, caribou, snowshoe hare and river otters—all unable to survive in the wild because of their injuries.

A boardwalk-and-trail route winds through the park, passing through bogs and various levels of boreal forests. It provides some incredible photo opportunities.
