Dabola

Dabola

Overview

Introduction

At Dabola, the mountains of the Fouta Djallon give way to the lowlands. This colonial town surrounded by hills is split not only geographically but also culturally—half of its inhabitants are Malinke and the other half Fulani. Try to go there on Tuesday, to visit one of the largest markets in the region. Other than the market, there's not much to do except enjoy the pleasant climate and surroundings. The lovely Tinkisso Falls are a short distance away and are worth a visit. A nearby lake created by a dam is home to hundreds of bird species. 200 mi/320 km northeast of Conakry.
