Introduction

Knin, located 120 mi/195 km south of Zagreb, is an important town in Croatian history: Tomislav, the first free king of Croatia, was crowned there in the 10th century. Be sure to see the impressive medieval fort of St. Saviour located on Mount Spas. Knin is also a popular spot for horseback riding and is an important rail link between Zagreb and Split on the Dalmatia coast.

The ancient Roman town of Burnum lies 11 mi/18 km southwest of Knin.
