Sheboygan

Sheboygan

Overview

Introduction

A busy port on Lake Michigan, Sheboygan is the site of Sheboygan Indian Mound Park, which contains several animal-shaped ceremonial mounds that were constructed between AD 500 and 1000. The Sheboygan County Historical Museum has several buildings from the 1800s, including a cheese factory. South of Sheboygan is Kohler/Andrae State Park, which offers access to Lake Michigan as well as hiking trails. Just inland from Kohler/Andrae is the northern section of Kettle Moraine State Forest, a glacier-carved landscape with lots of lakes. Southwest of Sheboygan, the village of Kohler is home to the American Club, a resort which boasts two award-winning golf courses and the Kohler Waters spa. Take a factory tour to learn how Kohler bathtubs and faucets are made, or plan your dream kitchen in the Kohler Design Center. Sheboygan is 50 mi/80 km north of Milwaukee.
