Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

Overview

Introduction

Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is for the birds—and the people who like to watch them. Even if you're not an avid avian-watcher, the Kempton sanctuary might rope you into the hobby. The view from North Lookout is breathtaking, and there is 8 mi/13 km of trail leading to the pristine spot.

The Appalachian Trail transverses the land, as well. The trail to South Lookout is accessible to the physically disabled. There is a small fee to use the trails at this decades-old sanctuary, the first of its kind for the conservation, education and research of raptors.
