Hillsborough

Hillsborough

Overview

Introduction

Antiques lovers will enjoy Hillsborough, Northern Ireland—this town 10 mi/16 km southwest of Belfast is lined with shops. As you shop your way from store to store, you'll pass Hillsborough Castle—the official royal residence in Northern Ireland. It's closed to the public, but it is still worth seeing from the outside. Also visit St. Malachy's Parish Church, which has two 18th-century pipe organs and beautiful stained glass. Afterward, stop by the town's 18th-century fort (if you have time). If you're not shopping, two hours is enough; if you like antiques, plan the better part of a day.
