Iconic Landmarks

Abu Dhabi’s visionary wonders always amaze with many heritage sites and iconic cultural landmarks showcasing time-honored traditions. Soak up ancient sights in Al Ain and at Qasr Al Hosn, immerse yourself in culture at Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and indulge in luxury at Emirates Palace and Etihad Towers.

Cultural Scene

You’ll never run out of things to do on Saadiyat Island, a world-class leisure and cultural hub located just seven minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi. The island, the location of Louvre Abu Dhabi, will be home to the world’s largest single concentration of premier cultural assets once the Zayed National Museum, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi are added to this stellar line-up in the near future.

Entertainment Thrills

Yas Island is Abu Dhabi’s premier entertainment hub, just a 30-minute drive from the city. Home to an F1™ racetrack, several theme parks, an incredible links golf course, beautiful beaches, stunning hotels, an impressive mall and much more, it’s the perfect place to bring the kids for a fun-filled holiday by the sea.

Ancient History

The city of Abu Dhabi is a glittering modern metropolis. But how old is Abu Dhabi? Sites and surroundings are rich with evidence of historical civilizations that settled in or moved through the region. Built in the 1790s, Qasr Al Hosn is a historical landmark and the oldest stone building in the city of Abu Dhabi. Once home to the ruling family, it has been restored and transformed into a museum, and currently featuring artifacts dating back to 6000 BC.

Pristine Beaches

From Saadiyat Island’s laid-back stretches of powder-soft white sand, to the remote Sir Bani Yas Island – home to 17,000 free-roaming animals – or a luxury break on Nurai private island…whichever kind of beach holiday you prefer, you’ll find a refreshing way to cool off in the shimmering turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf.

Emirati Cuisine

For generations, dining has been seen as a communal celebration, with food being shared with a great deal of warmth over a dinner table or, in the early days, beneath the cover of Bedouin tents under a blanket of stars. Emirati food is infused with spices and ingredients from throughout Asia and the Middle East. Think cinnamon, saffron, turmeric, nuts, limes and dried fruit.

Thriving Wildlife

Sir Bani Yas Island is famous for being a nature-based destination. More than half of this incredible island is made up of the Arabian Wildlife Park, home to more than 17,000 free-roaming animals, purpose-built stables and historical sites. Guests can enjoy 4×4 nature and wildlife safaris in specially-made vehicles accompanied by expert guides.

Soaring Dunes

With soaring dunes and impressive sand valleys, Abu Dhabi’s desertscape is a playground for fans of adventure. Dune bashing is a fantastic way to explore the desert expanse outside the Liwa Oasis in Al Dhafra. Dune-bashing experiences often also feature camel rides, sandboarding, henna painting, trying on traditional clothing, falcon and sometimes Saluki (desert hunting dog) shows, and belly-dancing performances.

Immersive Time Capsule

Looking for authentic experiences? Step back in time and discover age-old desert traditions at the Heritage Village on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Breakwater or the House of Artisans in the Al Hosn district. Watch craftsmen and women producing beautiful pottery, weaving and metalwork, and you will have the option to pick up a few gifts for family and friends back home.
